TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Tempe police say a 21-month-old boy found unresponsive at the bottom of a pool Monday has died.

Police Lt. Michael Pooley says the boy died Thursday afternoon from drowning.

Pooley says an investigation into the incident continues but that so far the death appears to be accidental and not involve foul play.

Police had said family members searching for the boy could not find him, but that a firefighter who responded along with police to a report of a missing child jumped into the pool and found the boy.

According to police, the 10-foot-deep pool was described as extremely cloudy and that its bottom was not visible.
