MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a father and son have pleaded guilty to trafficking heroin from Texas to Tennessee.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Memphis says Abel Gamez Sr. and Abel Gamez Jr. pleaded guilty this month to charges of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute heroin.

Prosecutors say the two men had people transport heroin from Texas to Memphis by Greyhound bus. Investigators found the men were the Texas-based sources of the heroin, which was later distributed in large quantities in Memphis and Shelby County by a drug organization.

Eight other people charged with being part of the drug ring also have pleaded guilty to heroin-related charges.
