HOUSTON (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing to search for a fisherman in the Houston Ship Channel who went missing from his shrimp boat.

Petty Officer Jennifer Nease said Saturday a Coast Guard boat and helicopter were looking for 49-year-old Ba Van Nguyen.

The fisherman was reported missing Friday evening after his 54-foot shrimp boat, Regina Pacis, was found spinning in circles with its fishing gear set in the channel with no one aboard.

Nease said Galveston police and a boat belonging to a friend of Nguyen’s family were also helping in the search.

Nguyen reportedly left San Leon, located about 40 miles southeast of Houston along Galveston Bay, around 5 a.m. Friday and had been expected to return to port by about 2 p.m.
