WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A Sandy man is facing charges in the death of a woman found injured in a West Valley City street.

KUTV in Salt Lake City reports (https://bit.ly/1UPZ7rU) that 26-year-old Sergio Briseno Medina was charged with murder this week in the killing of Hope Gabaldon.

He also faces one count of obstructing justice.

According to court documents, police say they have evidence including the discovery of the victim’s clothing and paperwork with her name in Medina’s garage.

Authorities say 21-year-old Gabaldon was found severely injured Feb. 25. She had suffered multiple wounds that were possibly caused by a knife.

She later died at a hospital.

Police identified Medina as a person of interest and located him in Denver three days later.

It was not known Saturday if he had an attorney.
