ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - A 39-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot by a Linn County sheriff’s deputy during a pursuit.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1MrP1KV ) that deputies tried to contact Brian Eller and an unidentified woman on Friday morning as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Oregon State Police say Eller and the woman ran from the deputies in a Chevrolet Silverado and ended up in a field.

Police say deputies found the vehicle and Eller was shot while fleeing. The woman and deputies were not injured.

Eller was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The Linn County Major Crimes Team and Oregon State Police will investigate the shooting.
