PARIS, Ark. (AP) - The Logan County murder trial of a man charged with killing his ex-wife has begun with the woman’s two daughters testifying that they saw the man shoot their mother.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1MseC6u ) that the two girls were among 10 witnesses who testified Friday on the opening day of the first-degree murder trial of 40-year-old Joshua Johnson. Johnson is charged in the March 19, 2014, shooting death of 30-year-old Lora Karras.

Prosecutors say Johnson was drunk when he shot Karras three times with a 12-gauge shotgun outside Karras’ home in Scranton.

Defense attorneys say Johnson suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression and could not control his actions.

Testimony is to resume Monday.
