LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say one person was killed and another was critically wounded after gunfire erupted in a South Los Angeles neighborhood.

City News Service says residents reported that multiple people opened fire shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators found a large number of shell casings from differently-sized guns and believe as many as three suspects may have been involved.

Police say the suspects were on foot during the shootings, then got into vehicles and drove away.

Both victims were taken to hospitals, where one died. No names were immediately released.

The investigation continues.
