LAS VEGAS (AP) - Firefighters in metropolitan Las Vegas were kept busy Sunday by several small fires.

KSNV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Sp1nmj) that a blaze in North Las Vegas has displaced a dozen people.

North Las Vegas firefighters responded around 4:45 a.m. to two apartments near Lake Mead Boulevard and Belmont Street.

Crews were able to get the fire under control.

However, eight adults and four children were not allowed back in their homes.

The American Red Cross is helping them.

Clark County firefighters put out a fire that erupted just before 4 a.m. at an abandoned home near US 93 and Buchanan Boulevard.

A third fire broke out in an outdoor garden area of a Las Vegas Walmart around 2:45 a.m. No injuries were reported and sprinklers kept the fire from spreading.
