CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - The Crazy Horse Memorial in western South Dakota will be light up in blue to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day.

The special lighting will take place at 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the memorial will be waived after 6 p.m.

The Empire State Building in New York and the Sydney Opera House in Australia are among the buildings that have previously light up in blue.

In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day. The awareness day is meant to highlight the need to improve the quality of life of individuals with autism.
