HELENA, Ala. (AP) - Police say three people were injured when a man driving a stolen car crashed into another vehicle during a police chase in central Alabama.

Helena Police Chief Pete Folmar tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1VP5wDd ) that the 27-year-old suspect and two occupants of the other vehicle injured in the crash Saturday. The suspect is being treated for injuries at UAB Hospital while charges are still pending.

Folmar says the injuries for the other two appear to be non-life threatening.

Folmar says the suspect allegedly stole the car in Hoover and later fled at the estimated speed of 70 mph when Helena police began to pursue. The suspect in the vehicle was traveling northbound before striking the motorist heading southbound on Hwy 261.
