BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A retired Nampa art teacher is one of five educators being honored nationwide for excellence in teaching.

The Idaho Statesman says (https://goo.gl/UUGKgc ) Jennifer Williams was picked to join the National Teachers Hall of Fame as part of its 2016 class. She’s the first teacher from Idaho to be an inductee.

After a career of more than 40 years, Williams retired from Skyview High School in 2004 but still is actively involved in art outreach in little Idaho schools through her Project “Van Go.”

Williams was given the national award at a surprise gathering of her friends, family and colleagues last week.

The story of her career will be on permanent display at the National Teachers Hall of Fame Museum in Emporia, Kansas.
