HOUSTON (AP) - Houston firefighters have rescued two window washers whose electric platform stalled halfway up a 41-story office building.

Nobody was hurt in Monday afternoon’s rescue on the side of the Marathon Oil Tower.

Houston Fire Department spokesman Jay Evans says emergency personnel were summoned on reports of a power issue with the lift. Evans says firefighters went into the building and popped a window out on a floor near the men.

Firefighters extended a small ladder, then attached safely lines to the workers and the platform. The window washers climbed the ladder and were pulled into the building.

The incident lasted just over an hour, on a clear afternoon with light winds and temperatures in the low 70s.

Officials aren’t sure what prompted the power loss to the window washing platform.
