STOCKDALE, Texas (AP) - Authorities say three people have died and two were critically hurt in a three-vehicle accident in South Texas during rain.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Anthony Flores said Monday that investigators are trying to determine if weather was a factor in the wreck near Stockdale.

DPS says a pickup truck going south on Texas 123 went out of control Sunday and hit an oncoming pickup truck. A third pickup smashed into the scene.

Both people in the first truck died. They were the driver, 65-year-old Charles Redden, and 61-year-old Sandra Redden, both of Seguin (sih-GEEN’).

DPS says a passenger in the second truck also died, 76-year-old Ladonna Speer of Prole, Iowa.

The other two drivers were transported to a San Antonio hospital. A hospital official didn’t immediately return a message Monday.
