CHESTER, S.D. (AP) - Voters in three neighborhoods on the north side of Brant Lake will decide Tuesday whether their community should become a new municipality.

Residents and property owners along Coves North Road, Brant Grove Drive and Brant Lake Hill will vote on whether to incorporate.

Lake County Auditor Bobbi Janke says 85 voters live in the three lake neighborhoods about 2 miles north of Chester. They’re currently governed by a township board.

Resident Dave Philips tells the Madison Daily Leader (https://bit.ly/1Te8YX7 ) that proponents want more direct involvement with issues such as road maintenance. If the measure passes, the neighborhoods would be governed by a five-person council.
