RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 21-year-old man died in a shooting Saturday, the latest victim in an upswing in violence that has seen five homicides in the city of Richmond in the past month.

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1RK5gFI ) Monday that police identified the victim as Malik Booker. He was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital. Lt. Andre Hill says police officers arrived in the 1700 block of Maine Avenue around 6:05 p.m. Saturday and started first aid until medical personnel arrived.

Police did not identify any suspects in the shooting. A motive was not yet known.

Booker is the fifth Richmond resident to die by gunfire since Feb. 27. Four of the victims in that span were 21 years old or younger.

The homicide was the seventh overall in the city of Richmond this year.
