MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Bruno Fornaroli scored twice to match the A-League record of 22 goals in season and help Melbourne City beat Wellington 3-0 Monday to stay atop the league table.

The Uruguayan forward struck in the 66th and 80th minutes to nudge City closer to the minor premiership with two rounds of the regular season remaining.

Just four points separate the league’s top five sides. City and Brisbane both have 44 points from matching records of 13 wins, seven losses and five draws but Melbourne has a far superior goal difference.

Adelaide is two points behind, one ahead of fourth-placed Western Sydney.

Harry Novillo opened the scoring just before halftime and Fornarolli’s second half double helped Melbourne atone for last month’s 2-1 loss in Wellington.
