SYMRNA, Tenn. (AP) - A teenager has died following a police pursuit that resulted in a crash in Rutherford County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol tells local media that the wreck occurred early Monday morning in Smyrna.

Smyrna police Sgt. Bobby Gibson says that the pursuit stemmed from a burglary attempt. He says that several teens fled the area near a pawn shop after police investigated the business for reports of a burglary.

Following a pursuit, the driver lost control and crashed into a creek. Several teens got out and ran. Others remained at the site due to injuries. They were taken to a hospital where one died.

One teenager was arrested and another remained hospitalized.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
