LOS ANGELES (AP) - A public bus with only the driver aboard and a car caught fire in a collision that left four vehicles damaged and seven people injured at a South Los Angeles intersection.

The out-of-service Metro bus crashed shortly before 7 p.m. Monday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department says one of the cars caught fire and the flames spread to the bus. The center section of the bus and the entire car were badly charred.

Fire officials say two of the injured are in critical condition.

They say two Los Angeles police officers and one bystander helped pull victims from the burning car before firefighters and paramedics arrived.

The fire was quickly put out.
