SAN DIEGO (AP) - A smuggler caught multiple times guiding undocumented immigrants over the border from Mexico has been sentenced in San Diego to five years in prison.

Federal prosecutors say U.S. Border Patrol agents had caught Efrain Delgado Rosales with undocumented immigrants 23 times in about 17 years.

Most recently Rosales was nabbed last November while guiding four people through the Otay Mountains in San Diego County.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1ZGoiN2 ) each of the four had paid $5,000 to be smuggled into the U.S.

The 35-year-old Rosales was sentenced on Friday.
