NEW YORK (AP) - The WNBA is celebrating its 20th season with new uniform colors for 10 of its 12 teams.

The league said Monday the uniforms will replace the traditional white jerseys at home and color jerseys on the road. San Antonio and Los Angeles will remain the same since both already feature all-color uniform designs.

“Of course, it’s significant to us,” new WNBA President Lisa Borders said. “I am delighted we have picked up on these beautiful colors that add depth and context and contour to our teams.”

The WNBA becomes one of the first American pro leagues to have no white jerseys. The teams won’t have specific home and away uniforms.

New York, Phoenix and Los Angeles will wear a jersey patch to commemorate their presence in the league for all 20 years. Additionally, all 12 teams will have a special logo on the back neckline of their jerseys.

“I obviously haven’t had a chance to check out all of the other uniforms,” Liberty center Tina Charles said. “But I really like the Liberty jerseys, and I’m looking forward to seeing some new looks around the league.”

The WNBA said this month that marquee partner Verizon will appear on the front of 10 team jerseys. Connecticut and San Antonio already have communication sponsors on the front of theirs. It’s unclear how long these new uniforms will be used, with Nike replacing Adidas after the 2017 season.

The league also will have a new game ball this year embossed with the 20th season logo.
