BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) - A 20-year-old Waterbury man has been charged with stabbing an 80-year-old Bristol man in his own home.

Authorities say Eric Bowden is scheduled to be arraigned Monday after being held over the weekend on $750,000 bond on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault on an elderly person and home invasion.

Police say Bowden stabbed the victim several times in his leg and upper torso just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the victim on the lawn outside his house bleeding from his wounds. He was taken to the hospital for surgery.

The victim’s family identified Bowden, who was arrested at his parents’ home in Bristol.

Police say Bowden and the victim knew each other, but did not disclose a motive.
