MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 61-year-old man has died while kayaking on the Chippewa River.

Police in Midland responded Saturday following a report of two empty kayaks floating down the river and two people were later found in the water, with one giving CPR to the other.

The Midland Daily News and MLive.com report Bruce Dana Scott Reed of Midland County died at a hospital. He had been kayaking with his 38-year-old son, who told authorities he saw his father’s kayak float by, located his father and had tried to revive him.
