BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - UAB associate head coach Rob Ehsan is among the candidates to replace Jerod Haase, who took over at Stanford.

UAB athletic director Mark Ingram said Tuesday that Ehsan is “a legitimate candidate” for the job. Ehsan is serving as interim coach.

Ingram says he has spoken to a number of coaches on the phone but hasn’t conducted any formal interviews or offered the job to anyone.

He’s heading to Houston this week for the Final Four, where he could talk with prospects and vet potential candidates.

Ingram says finding a coach with “a proven track record of integrity” is a top priority.

Ehsan was on Haase’s staff the past four seasons, including the last two as associate head coach. He was an assistant at Virginia Tech and Maryland before that.
