ANDALUSIA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities believe that a turkey hunter accidentally shot and killed himself after he fell down a ravine in southern Alabama.

Covington County Chief Deputy David Anderson tells news outlets that the body of 67-year-old Jonathan Hugh Sellers was found dead Monday in a ravine on the man’s property. Sellers had been reported missing earlier that morning while hunting turkeys outside of Andalusia.

Anderson says the man appeared to have fallen into the ravine, which caused his gun to discharge. He was struck in the upper area of his body.

Investigators have ruled Sellers’ death as accidental.
