RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A former security guard has been sentenced after being convicted in a fatal altercation with a customer at a Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center pharmacy.

Prosecutors said a surveillance video shows Brown grabbed Whitaker, hurling him to the ground Aug. 7. Whitaker had been waiting to have a prescription filled and was attempting to bypass a line. He hit his head and died two days later.

Brown was employed by LEW & Associates during the time.

He was released on bond, pending an appeal of the sentence.
