PARIS, Texas (AP) - Services have been scheduled for a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper killed when his patrol car wrecked.

A DPS statement says the funeral for Trooper Jeffrey Nichols will be at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in Paris.

The 27-year-old Nichols, who was stationed in Paris, died Saturday night when he lost control of his patrol vehicle in an accident in rural Lamar County. Nichols was dead at the scene.

DPS says no other vehicles were involved. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Visitation for law enforcement and emergency services personnel will be from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris. Public visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paris is about 100 miles northeast of Dallas.
