LOS ANGELES (AP) - It’s been a hail of an afternoon in Southern California.

The National Weather Service says pea-sized hail was reported Tuesday at Sunset Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles and in the northeastern foothill communities of Pasadena and Glendale.

Weather specialist Stuart Seto says the hail only lasted about three to seven minutes.

No damage or injuries are reported.

Seto says it’s due to a cold low-pressure system that moved in from the north. It also brought a smattering of rain and some snow, within an inch falling in 30 minutes at Wrightwood.

The system is expected to head east out of the state tonight, although showers could linger in the mountains and foothills.
