WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island motorist has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash that killed a man in his wheelchair last year.

Christopher Bacayon pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in the death of 40-year-old Michael Dora.

The West Babylon man was fatally struck while he was in his wheelchair about a half mile from his home in October.

Prosecutors say parts collected at the scene matched damaged and missing parts from Bacayon’s car found parked at his residence.

Bacayon’s lawyer couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.

During the investigation, authorities learned that just 10 days before the incident, Bacayon’s twin brother had pleaded guilty to a similar charge of leaving the scene of 2013 accident that injured a pedestrian. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
