PITTSBURGH (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the death of his wife, who was found dead in the woods in western Pennsylvania almost three years ago.

Fifty-three-year-old Thomas Clark of East Deer Township also pleaded guilty Tuesday in Allegheny County to abuse of a corpse and evidence-tampering.

Prosecutors said Clark’s plea did not come with any agreement on sentencing, which is scheduled for June 28.

Authorities said the body of 50-year-old Jill Clark was found near a utility road in Plum Township in July 2013. Police said she had apparently been beaten to death.

Police alleged that Thomas Clark hit his wife repeatedly with a floor jack handle, then wrapped her body in plastic and dumped it before driving to multiple trash bins to dispose of her clothing.
