COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - State authorities say a former employee of a Putnam County resource center has pleaded guilty to stealing from that office.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Matthew Lynn has pleaded guilty to theft over $1,000 and has been sentenced to three years’ probation.

The TBI said Monday that agents were asked in February 2015 to investigate a discrepancy in funds in the Housing Finance Department of the Upper Cumberland Development District in Cookeville.

Investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury had performed an audit that found that in November and December of 2014, Lynn had misappropriated funds totaling at least $16,566.

The TBI says Lynn has been released after turning himself in, pleading guilty and paying restitution.
