EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a 39-year-old man shot and wounded by Linn County sheriff’s deputies after he fired at them during a pursuit in a stolen pickup truck remains in critical condition.

The Register-Guard reports (https://goo.gl/CKVuWa ) Brian Eller remained hospitalized Monday. Deputies and a passenger in the truck, who has been identified as 35-year-old Kimberly Eller, were uninjured.

Deputies had tried to make contact with the Ellers on Friday as part of an ongoing investigation when they fled in the pickup and led them on a chase.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says the truck ended up in a field where both suspects tried to run away and Brian Eller shot at deputies, who returned fire.

The deputies who shot at the suspect have been identified as Ryan Keys and Kenneth Pyle.
