SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Transit is opening a new bus plaza at Secaucus Junction that’s designed to keep passengers more comfortable and safe.

Tuesday’s opening comes ten months after the project’s original completion date. But the $8 million cost is $1 million less than projected.

Secaucus Junction includes 14 bus platforms, a 590-foot curved canopy to shelter passengers from the weather, improved lighting, a public address system and closed-circuit video cameras.

NJ Transit says the plaza handles five bus routes and 1,595 passengers daily.
