PITTSBURGH (AP) - The number of drunken driving arrests dropped 18 percent in the Pittsburgh-area last year, the first that ride-sharing service Uber was allowed to operate in and around the city.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/1qdJfmk) says state records show there were 3,284 DUI arrests in Allegheny County last year, down from 4,004 in 2014 and 4,118 the year before.

Uber officials say their requests for rides spike at about 2 a.m. - when most bars normally close - and again at 4 a.m. The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh and several bars top the list of places where Uber rides are requested.

Statewide, drunken driving arrests fell about 2 percent last year.
