CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) - Police say a 19-year-old man escaped custody during a court hearing, leading to a two-hour standoff with police as he threatened to jump from a rooftop in central Pennsylvania.

Carlisle Sgt. Daniel Miller says Nygel Jenkins was in court for unpaid fines Monday when he flipped over a table in the courtroom, jumped over a wall and took off through an emergency exit.

Police say officers, a negotiator and Jenkins’ mother were able to talk Jenkins down from the roof. Miller says Jenkins is now in custody and will receive a psychological evaluation.

He says Jenkins will probably face additional charges related to the standoff.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
