SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Some Sierra resorts are planning to extend skiing until May after a spring storm dropped fresh snow on the area.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1WUvzXL ) that Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe resort announced Monday that winter operations will continue until May 8. Mt. Rose is the highest base elevation resort at Lake Tahoe.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe’s marketing director Mike Pierce says it will be the longest season in Mt. Rose’s history.

Sqaw Valley and Alpine Meadows spokeswoman Liesl Kennedy says the resorts also plan to extend the season, conditions permitting.

Northstar California Resort spokeswoman Marcie Bradley says 11 inches of snow fell on Donner Summit Monday. She says it brought the season’s snowfall to a total of 441 inches.
