FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz will be the keynote speaker at the North Dakota GOP convention Saturday.

The North Dakota Republican Party announced Cruz’s address Tuesday. The state GOP convention kicks off Friday at the Scheels Arena in Fargo.

Cruz, a U.S. senator from Texas, won the endorsement of two-term Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on Tuesday.

Former GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson will also address convention attendees. His speech is scheduled for Sunday.

Carson, a political newcomer, never won any of the early primary contests, and he suspended his campaign at the beginning of this month.

Republicans expect their three-day state convention to be one of the GOP’s best-attended gatherings. More than 1,800 delegates are expected to gather at the Fargo arena.
