BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Two oyster areas in Mississippi will reopen for harvesting at legal sunrise Thursday.
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announced the reopening of Area II “E,” which includes Square Handkerchief reef and southern portions of Henderson Point Reef, and Area II “F,” which includes southern portions of the Pass Christian Reef.
Those reefs had been closed since Dec. 11 because of red tide, the opening of Louisiana’s Bonnet Carre Spillway and excessive rainfall.
MDMR Executive Director Jamie Miller says the daily sack limit is 15 for tonging and 25 for dredging.
