LENOIR, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Caldwell County say a man is facing a charge of attempted murder after a woman and an 18-month-old were stabbed,

Local media outlets report the Caldwell County Sheriff’s office said Thursday the stabbing victims are hospitalized in stable condition after the attack on Wednesday night.

Investigators say 42-year-old William Henry Pitts is facing two counts of attempted murder. He is jailed on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear in court in Lenoir on Thursday.

The sheriff’s office said Pitts and the stabbing victims were in a domestic relationship.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
