HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) - A part-time faculty member at a Connecticut university has been charged with illegally collecting more than $8,000 in unemployment benefits while working.

Angela Skyers, of Oxford, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community and unemployment compensation fraud.

The 48-year-old Skyers was released after posting $10,000 bond pending arraignment in New Britain Superior Court on March 10.

Authorities allege she collected the money in 2012 while working at Quinnipiac University and at Goodwin College.

A Quinnipiac spokesman says Skyers is a part-time faculty member but had not further comment. The school’s website lists her as a teacher of international business. A Goodwin spokesman says she no longer works there.

Her lawyer did not return calls for comment.
