BOSTON (AP) - The owners of TD Garden are proposing to remake Boston’s forlorn City Hall Plaza.

Mayor Marty Walsh announced Thursday that the Boston Garden Development Corporation had been picked to help enhance the sprawling brick plaza, following a competitive bidding process.

Among the company’s ideas are installing a Ferris wheel up 200 feet tall, a restaurant and bar, an ice skating path in the winter, and a manmade beach in the summer.

Walsh says the company’s proposal isn’t binding: the public will have a chance to weigh in and the city will have final say.

Boston Garden Development Corporation now has a three-year contract to begin developing new programming and temporary amenities on the plaza. TD Garden is home to the NBA’s Celtics and the NHL’s Bruins.
