ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) - A former teacher and coach at a Round Rock high school has been sentenced to three years in prison for having sexual contact with a student.

Court documents say 42-year-old Christopher Cotten pleaded guilty Wednesday to indecency with a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.

Cotten was arrested April 9 after a 16-year-old student told Williamson County sheriff’s deputies that he had touched and kissed her inappropriately and sent her photos of his genitals.

Cotten had been a math teacher and track coach at McNeil High School since 2004. He was put on administrative leave before resigning last year.

Cotten was previously accused of misconduct with a student at another Central Texas school in 2000. The incident wasn’t reported to the Texas Education Agency.
