KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a fourth suspect has been charged in the abuse of a 63-year-old Klamath Falls woman.

The Herald and News reports (https://goo.gl/k3XoeB ) that 50-year-old John Raley pleaded not guilty Wednesday to kidnapping, assault and strangulation charges. Attorney Sammy Sanchez has been appointed to represent him.

Raley and the other three suspects have been accused of using handcuffs, bungee cords and other materials to restrain the victim and then beat her on multiple occasions. The five all lived together.

Authorities began investigating after the victim was undergoing a mental health evaluation for pending animal abuse charges. Hospital staff alerted authorities after finding she had injuries consistent with abuse.

The other three suspects, Florence Marie Raley, Melissa Ann Shanholtzer and Johnathon Sterling Martin have also pleaded not guilty in the case.
