FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Inova Alexandria Hospital and Inova Loudoun Hospital have implemented visiting restrictions at the facilities due to an increase in flu-like illness.

WTOP-FM reports (https://bit.ly/24DzQEC ) Inova’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Loring Flint says in a statement that the temporary measures will help protect the most vulnerable, including inpatients as well as caregivers, against influenza infection.

Some of the restrictions Inova has put in place include no visitors under the age of 16, no visitors with any symptoms of influenza-like illness and no more than two visitors.

In addition, Inova says the hospitals may give visitors masks to wear while visiting, and visitors may be asked to wash their hands frequently.

The restrictions don’t apply to patient care companions.
