HICKORY, N.C. (AP) - Police in Hickory have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant that killed a woman and left a man wounded.

Local media outlets report 22-year-old Eric Terril Yount of Granite Falls is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

A statement from Hickory police says officers dispatched to a McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday afternoon found 22-year-old Richelle Scott Lail of Hudson lying on the ground and suffering from gunshot wounds. She died on the scene.

The statement said 28-year-old Cody William Watts of Hickory was found wounded in a nearby vehicle. Watts is in critical condition in a local hospital. Capt. Reed Baer said investigators think the shootings stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Yount was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
