WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - A man accused of harassing the mayor of Woonsocket in more than a dozen phone messages left on her City Hall line has been declared incompetent to face charges.

City Solicitor Michael Marcello tells The Call of Woonsocket (https://bit.ly/1Y5kunG ) that 49-year-old Jay Paris will remain jailed as efforts to restore him to competency continue.

Paris is charged with making harassing phone calls to the mayor. He was declared incompetent to answer criminal charges in District Court on Wednesday.

Mayor Lisa Baldedlli-Hunt previously told WJAR-TV that Paris’s last of 17 voice messages specifically called her out, saying Baldedlli-Hunt’s days were numbered and that her time was coming.

Another hearing is scheduled for April 4.
