SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A naked man has been arrested inside the Sikh Temple of Spokane and may face a hate crime charge after several items were desecrated.

Temple leaders say about $30,000 in damage was done to the interior of the building.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says that 44-year-old Jeffrey C. Pittman was arrested “after a short altercation.”

Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Gregory says officers were called to the temple around 5:45 a.m. Thursday and confronted the suspect, who was holding decorative swords taken from inside the temple.

Pittman was unclothed, but had wrapped himself in a blanket.
