CANTON, N.Y. (AP) - A new date has been set for the start of a murder trial for a former New York college soccer coach charged with killing his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year-old son in 2011.

The Watertown Daily Times reports (bit.ly/1LWM4MW) that 41-year-old Oral “Nick” Hillary of Potsdam is now scheduled to go on trial Aug. 1 in St. Lawrence County Court.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin Feb. 16 but was adjourned two weeks earlier.

Hillary was charged with second-degree murder after Garrett Phillips was found strangled inside his family’s apartment in Potsdam in October 2011.

Hillary was the men’s soccer coach at Clarkson University in Potsdam at the time of the slaying. He remains free on bond.
