ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s Senate has again passed a bill to amend a law that prohibits the unlawful sale of term papers, dissertations and theses to students for submission.

Republican Sen. Kenneth LaValle proposed a revision specifying that any material “written or provided through electronic media,” not just written, would be illegal to sell to a student who the seller had reason to believe would cheat by submitting the material as their own.

A companion bill has been introduced in the Assembly.
