HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say an East Haven man has been sentenced to prison for drug and weapons charges.

Thirty-year-old Matthew Voloshin was sentenced Wednesday to 5 1/2 months in federal prison followed by three years of probation.

Voloshin pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to distribute more than 20 kilograms of marijuana and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Authorities say a 2013 search of Voloshin’s home revealed two loaded handguns and approximately $50,000 in cash. Police found three handguns and approximately 40 pounds of marijuana in a garage that Voloshin was renting.

Voloshin’s co-defendant, Jesse Wrubel, of West Haven, pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He’s scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.
