LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Forecasters posted flash flood warnings for sections of Arkansas as a storm system moved into the state.

The Storm Prediction Center also posted a tornado watch for southern and western Arkansas, saying conditions were ripe for bad weather. Large hail and damaging winds were also possible through nearly all the state.

Heavy rain raised the risk of flash floods from Little Rock north to between Marshall and Batesville. All of southern Arkansas was under a flash flood watch as storms moved in Wednesday afternoon.

Lightning and heavy rains hit central Arkansas during the evening rush hour, slowing commuters.

Earlier in the day, an American Eagle flight from Memphis to Dallas made an unexpected stop in Little Rock due to turbulence from storms. American Airlines says two flight attendants were injured.
